IT'S ABOUT TIME

Over the past few years horse racing has become a truly global business. Horses are being shipped from one country to another more frequently. At the same time bettors are being offered more opportunities to wager on foreign races as well as foreign runners in their local contests.

In any other sport this would be great news. In horse-racing it has only led to confusion.  The truth is nobody really understands anything but their local racing.  When they see a foreign horse they generally find it impossible to assess its true level of ability.  This has led to owners wasting a fortune on buying foreign horses that prove to be uncompetitive when they are imported.  It has also prompted bettors to lose money betting foreign horses whose chances of winning have been miscalculated.

The goal of this web site is to end the confusion by producing accurate international speed ratings that will enable you to directly compare the relative ability of horses from different countries.

Until now, no-one has ever even attempted to make international speed ratings due to the daunting technical problems it involves.  The only international ratings available have been handicap figures which have provided more laughs than guidance to anyone with the remotest understanding of horses in more than one country.

Speed ratings are the closest you can come to an objective measure of a racehorse’s ability.  They are the only way forward for anyone who is serious about comparing horses from different countries.  And now I am producing them for all British and Irish races.  Within a month I will be rating all French and Argentine races as well. By the end of the year I plan to be producing speed figures for Argentina, America, Britain, Ireland, France, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Australia and South Africa. (I should have all the major European and American countries covered by late summer.)

It is going to take quite some time to produce all of this information, and I simply can’t afford to do it for free.  Therefore, at some point in the next few weeks, when I’m fully up and running I will start charging for access to certain sections of this web site.  Right now you can obtain everything here at no cost.  My hope is that you will find it so useful you’ll be happy to pay.

Thanks for visiting!
