SNOW GOOSE IS SERIOUSLY GOOD
The Premio Ribot produced a fast winner in EAGLE RISE (42) who
just got the better of another smart German runner in MARTILLO (42).
Eagle Rise is clearly at his best with cut in the ground. In
fact he has now won six of the eight times he's run on yielding or softer ground
at less than ten furlongs.
Martillo has run Group 1 times by my estimates on several
occasions but has still to win at the top level. He's best in the Spring
according to his trainer, so I'll be interested in his chances if he stays in
training to take another shot at the Dubai Duty Free, a race in which he went
close earlier this season.
Salselon (42) stops as soon as he hits the front, and was
ridden to perfection here to come with a very late run for third. He keeps on
losing though and is clearly very difficult to win with despite his tremendous
ability.
SNOW GOOSE (40) ran a terrific race for a filly running
against Group 1 colts to run fourth. I hope she stays in training next year as
this was the second time she's run a time that would give her a shot in Group 1
company versus her own sex.
